John Deere 521539.06 – RLC: Front Inner Roof Flood Light Left Current High

The controller has detected that the electrical current draw on the circuit for the front-left inner roof work light exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This typically indicates a short circuit to ground, a failed light assembly (such as an internally shorted LED or incorrect halogen bulb wattage), or a pinched/chafed wiring harness.

   Inspect the front inner left roof light for physical damage, cracked lenses, or water intrusion, which commonly causes internal shorts.

   Disconnect the front inner left work light, turn the machine on, and activate the work lights. If the fault code changes from 521539.06 (Current High) to 521539.05 (Current Low / Open Circuit), the light assembly itself is internally shorted.

   If the 'Current High' code remains active while the light is unplugged, trace the wiring from the roof light back to the RLC module, looking for pinched wires, chafing against the cab frame, or melted insulation.

   Inspect the connectors at both the light and the RLC module for corrosion, bent pins, or melted plastic caused by excessive heat.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable if you will be repairing wiring.

   Access the Light

   Safely access the front left cab roof. Remove the bezel/hardware securing the inner flood light.

   Replace or Repair

   If the light is faulty: Plug in the replacement LED/halogen assembly. Ensure the weather-tight connector clicks into place securely. If the harness is faulty: Repair the shorted section of the wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink butt connectors, or replace the affected roof harness section.

   Reassemble

   Mount the light back into the cab roof housing and secure the bezel.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and clear the stored RLC fault codes. Turn on the work lights to verify the light functions correctly and the 521539.06 code does not return.
