John Deere 521542.06 – RLC: Rear Roof Warning (NA Only) or Rear Corner Roof Light (Eur Only) Left Current High

The control module has detected an electrical current draw on the circuit for the rear left outer roof light that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This is typically caused by a short circuit to ground, an internally shorted bulb/LED assembly, or damaged wiring.

   Inspect the rear left outer work light / warning light for physical damage, cracked lenses, or water intrusion.

   Perform a component isolation swap test: disconnect the left rear roof light and swap the bulb or entire assembly with the right side. Clear codes and cycle power to see if the fault follows the component.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the RLC module to the left rear roof light for pinched wires, chafing against the cab frame, or melted insulation causing a short to ground.

   Check the pins at the light connector and the RLC module connector for corrosion, moisture, or melting.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent further electrical damage.

   Access the Component

   Access the rear roof lighting harness at the rear left corner of the cab roof.

   Replace Faulty Component

   If the light assembly was shorted: Unplug the pigtail connector, unbolt the mounting bracket, and install the new work light / warning light assembly. If the wiring was shorted: Repair the damaged section of the harness using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors, or replace the affected harness section if the damage is extensive.

   Reassemble and Reconnect

   Secure all wiring with zip ties to prevent future chafing. Reconnect the battery ground.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key switch on. Many RLC codes can be cleared simply by cycling the key switch or by following the solution prompt on the CommandCenter display. If the code persists as an active fault, use John Deere Service Advisor to clear the stored RLC diagnostic codes.

   Verify Operation

   Turn on the work lights/warning hazards and verify the left rear roof light operates correctly without tripping the code.
