John Deere 521560.03 – RLC: Rear Roof Warning (North America Only) or Rear Corner Roof Light (Europe Only) Right Voltage High.

The controller has detected a "Voltage High" condition on the circuit supplying the right outer worklight/warning light on the rear of the cab roof. This typically indicates a short-to-power in the wiring harness, a failed light assembly, or a malfunction within the controller itself.

   Inspect the right rear roof warning light (or European corner roof light) and its wiring harness for physical damage, pinched wires, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the right rear roof light and inspect the pins on both the harness side and the light side for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent pins.

   Using a multimeter, test the power circuit for the right rear roof light. Check for voltage on the signal wire when the light switch is turned off to identify a short to a 12V power source.

   With the light disconnected, clear the codes. If the code changes to a 'Current Low' or 'Open Circuit' code (such as 521560.05), the short is likely internal to the light assembly itself. If the 521560.03 code persists with the light unplugged, the short-to-power is in the roof wiring harness or the RLC module.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Harness

   Access the rear roof lighting harness on the right side of the cab roof.

   Trace the Short

   If the diagnostic tests pointed to a harness issue, trace the wiring from the right rear roof light back to the RLC module. Look for areas where the wire loom may have rubbed against the cab frame, exposing the copper wire to a constant power source. Repair any damaged wiring with heat-shrink butt connectors and re-loom.

   Replace the Light Assembly

   If the diagnostic tests proved the light assembly has an internal short, unbolt the right rear warning/corner light from the cab roof, plug the new assembly into the harness, and bolt it securely into place.

   Module Replacement (Worst Case)

   If the wiring is perfectly intact and the light is functional, the RLC module may have an internal fault sending constant high voltage to the pin. Replace the RLC module (requires John Deere Service Advisor software to program the new module to the tractor's CAN bus).

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the RLC 521560.03 code. Turn on the hazard/warning lights to verify the right rear roof light functions properly.
