John Deere 521560.06 – RLC: Rear Roof Warning (NA Only) or Rear Corner Roof Light (Eur Only) Right Current High

The control module is detecting an electrical current draw on the right rear roof warning light circuit that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This is typically caused by a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness, a internally shorted light assembly/bulb, or a failure within the control module itself.

   Visually inspect the right rear roof warning light (North America) or right rear corner roof light (Europe) for physical damage, water intrusion, or a melted housing.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the right rear roof light assembly to isolate the component.

   Turn the key on, activate the lights, and check the active fault codes. If the code changes from 521560.06 (Current High) to 521560.05 (Current Low) or goes inactive, the short is internal to the light assembly.

   If the code remains 521560.06 with the light disconnected, the short is in the wiring harness or the RLC module. With the battery disconnected, use a multimeter to check for continuity to ground on the power supply wire leading from the RLC to the right rear roof light.

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly fine with no shorts to ground, verify the RLC (Cab Roof Module) for an internal short on that pin driver.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Component

   Safely access the right rear roofline of the tractor cab.

   Replace Light Assembly (if shorted)

   Remove the retaining screws holding the right rear warning/corner light to the cab roof. Disconnect the pigtail, plug in the new OEM light assembly, and secure it to the roof housing.

   Repair Wiring Harness (if shorted)

   Trace the roof harness back toward the RLC. Look for pinch points where the harness routes through the cab frame or roof cap. Splice and heat-shrink the damaged wire, or replace the roof harness section if the damage is extensive.

   Replace RLC (if faulty)

   Access the Cab Roof Module (typically located under the inner roof headliner or top roof cap). Disconnect the harness connectors, unbolt the module, and install the replacement RLC. Note: A new RLC may require software configuration/calibration via John Deere Service ADVISOR.

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position, activate the warning lights, and verify that the light functions correctly and the 521560.06 code is now inactive. Clear the stored codes.
