John Deere 521562.03 – RLC: Rear Inner Right Roof Flood Light Voltage High

The controller has detected that the voltage on the circuit supplying the rear inner right roof flood light is higher than the expected operating range. This typically indicates a short to power in the wiring harness, a failed internal component within the light assembly (especially on LED units), or an issue at the connector.

   Access the rear cab roof and visually inspect the inner right flood light for physical damage, moisture intrusion inside the lens, or burnt contacts.

   Disconnect the light and inspect the connector for corrosion, melted pins, or water ingress.

   Check the wiring harness routed through the cab roof for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper that might be shorting to a 12V power source.

   Perform circuit isolation: With the light disconnected, turn the machine on and check active codes. If the code changes from 521562.03 (Voltage High) to 521562.05 (Current Low / Open Circuit), the wiring is intact and the fault is internal to the light assembly. If the 521562.03 code remains, the short to power is in the wiring harness or the RLC module itself.

   If wiring tests normal, inspect the connections at the RLC module (located in the cab roof) for loose connections or moisture.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access the Roof Array

   Safely access the rear roof lighting array. You may need to remove the outer roof bezel or light housing bracket depending on the exact cab configuration.

   Disconnect and Remove

   Unplug the wiring harness from the rear inner right flood light. Unbolt the light assembly from its mounting bracket/pedestal.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If a short to power was found in the harness during diagnostics, splice and heat-shrink the damaged wire, or replace the affected roof harness section.

   Install New Light

   If the light assembly failed internally, mount the replacement OEM light to the bracket.

   Reconnect and Test

   Plug the harness back into the light. Reconnect the battery ground. Turn the ignition on, activate the work lights, and verify that the light illuminates and the 521562.03 fault code changes to "Stored" or clears entirely from the diagnostic display.
