Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Isolate the tractor from the implement by disconnecting the trailer/implement from the tractor's rear 7-pin lighting receptacle. Clear the code and turn the work lights on to see if the code returns (indicates short is on the implement).

  2. Inspect the tractor's rear trailer lighting receptacle for packed dirt, water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins that could be bridging the work light circuit to a ground pin.

  3. Check Fuse F32 (Trailer Work Light Fuse, 10 Amp Red) in the Cab Load Center to see if it is blown.

  4. Trace the wiring harness from the rear trailer connector back toward the cab, looking for pinch points, chafing against the chassis, or melted insulation.

  5. Monitor live current on the circuit by navigating to address CLC 043 (Trailer Work Light Driver Status and Current) in the tractor's diagnostic menu.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

  2. Clean/Replace the Receptacle

    If the rear 7-pin connector is heavily corroded or internally shorted, unbolt it from the mounting bracket, disconnect the harness plug at the rear of the socket, and install a new receptacle. Apply dielectric grease to the terminals to prevent future moisture intrusion.

  3. Repair Wiring

    If a chafed wire was found during the harness inspection, cut out the damaged section. Strip the ends and use a heat-shrink butt connector to splice the wire. Wrap the repaired section in high-temp automotive wiring loom and secure it away from pinch points with zip ties.

  4. Replace the Fuse

    If Fuse F32 (10A) was blown, replace it with a new 10A fuse. OEM Warning: DO NOT replace the original fuse with a higher-rated fuse, or severe machine damage/fire may occur.

  5. Test the Circuit

    Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and activate the trailer work lights. Verify that the lights function and that the CLC 521565.06 code changes from "Active" to "Stored."

  6. Clear Codes

    Use the CommandCenter display to clear the stored fault codes.
