521927.07

John Deere 521927.07 – RPM: Range B Fault

Issue description

The control software has detected that, after multiple automated attempts, the transmission cannot physically engage Range B. This typically indicates a mechanical or hydraulic problem within the transmission. As a safety and preservation measure, the control software disables the affected range until the next time the tractor is started.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R

Check the cause

  1. Restart the tractor to reset the control software and attempt to engage the range again to rule out a temporary software or engagement glitch.

  2. Ensure the Range B solenoid is receiving stable power and functioning correctly. Check the solenoid wiring harness for damage, shorts, or open circuits.

  3. Inspect the hydraulic system that controls the range engagement. Look for pressure drops, leaks, or sticking valves that would prevent the hydraulic pressure from physically moving the gear.

  4. If electrical and hydraulic checks pass, inspect the mechanical components of the transmission for signs of wear, damage, or misalignment.

Repair steps

  1. Restart and Test

Turn the tractor off and back on to reset the RPM module. Attempt to select Range B. If it engages, monitor for recurring issues.

  2. Electrical/Hydraulic Repair

If the code returns, test the Range B solenoid. If the solenoid is faulty or the circuit is damaged, replace the solenoid or repair the wiring harness.

  3. Mechanical Repair

If the solenoid and hydraulics are operating at the correct pressures but the gear still will not engage, the transmission will require a mechanical teardown.

  4. Component Replacement

Repair or replace any worn synchronizers, shift forks, or damaged gears within the Range B clutch/gear assembly.

  5. Consult Dealer

If the error persists after external solenoid and hydraulic checks, it is highly recommended to consult John Deere technical support or a certified technician, as Direct Drive transmission teardowns require specialized OEM calibration tools.
