John Deere 521928.07 – GPM (Gear Shift Module Direct Drive): Gear 8 Has Not Been Engaged After Several Attempts By The Module. Gear Now Unavailable. Restart Tractor To Try And Select Gear.

This diagnostic trouble code is generated when the control software fails to engage the 8th gear after multiple attempts. Specifically, diagnostic documentation indicates this code is triggered if the control software detects that the electrical current value of the gear's solenoid valve is too high, which strongly points to a short circuit in the solenoid or its wiring. To protect the transmission, the module locks out the gear and makes it unavailable until the machine is restarted.

   Restart the tractor to see if the gear can be successfully selected. The GPM temporarily disables the gear after failed attempts; a restart resets this lockout.
