521935.05

John Deere 521935.05 – RPM: Range A Solenoid Current Too Low

Issue description

The control software has detected that the electrical current value at the Range A solenoid is too low, which typically indicates an open circuit. When this code is active, the operator will experience limited or no function of the transmission.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R

  • 6250R

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the Range A solenoid wiring harness and connectors for physical damage, corrosion, or disconnected pins that would cause an open circuit.

  2. Check the circuit with a multimeter to verify a stable power supply is reaching the solenoid.

  3. Perform a resistance/continuity test on the Range A solenoid coil itself to see if the internal coil has failed (open).

  4. Scan the RPM module for any accompanying faults (such as temperature or voltage spikes) that might be causing the module to cut power to the circuit.

Repair steps

  1. Safely secure the machine

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

  2. Locate the Range A Solenoid

Access the DirectDrive transmission valve block where the range shifting solenoids are housed.

  3. Repair Wiring (if applicable)

If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, repair the wiring harness or replace the pigtail connector.

  4. Replace the Solenoid (if applicable)

If the solenoid failed the continuity test, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the retaining hardware, and extract the faulty Range A solenoid. Install the new solenoid and torque to OEM specifications.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the wiring harness, power on the machine, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 521935.05 code.

  6. Test Drive

Operate the tractor, ensuring the transmission shifts smoothly through Range A without triggering the fault or going into limp mode.
