John Deere 522092.17 – GPM: It Has Taken Too Long To Engage Gear 3

This diagnostic trouble code is generated when the control software detects that the physical engagement of Gear 3 is taking longer than the acceptable time threshold. When this occurs, the system will automatically attempt to engage the gear a second time.

   Inspect wiring and connections. Check the wiring harness and connectors leading to the Gear 3 solenoid on the transmission. Look for rubbed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Check CAN Bus health and grounds. Communication faults can cause the transmission to drop out of gear or fail to shift. Inspect the battery ground cables and chassis grounds, as a loose or broken eyelet terminal can cause intermittent loss of communication to the transmission controllers.
