John Deere 522122.31 – FCC (Front Console Control Unit): CAN BUS Message Issue With Communication Between the Dash Module And Other Modules
Issue description

Check the cause
Check for other active power supply, ground, or primary CAN bus circuit codes and address them first, as they can cause cascading communication failures.
Cycle the key switch to see if the communication fault is a temporary glitch or a hard failure.
Verify CAN bus voltage and resistance across the network to rule out a short or open circuit in the main harness.
Check the reverser switch status via the CommandCenter/display (e.g., FCC 005 for PST Drive Lever Switch Status, FCC 007 for Reverse Switch Status) to see if the module is registering physical lever movements.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the FCC (Front Console), the Left-Hand Reverser lever, and the transmission control units (PTA/PTQ) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or damage.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Faults
If the CAN bus system test reveals an open or short circuit between the reverser lever and the FCC, repair the damaged wiring harness or replace the faulty connector.
Replace the Reverser Control Unit
If the wiring is intact but the FCC is still logging a 'Left-Hand Reverser Message Missing' or 'Drive Lever Message Missing' code, the internal circuitry of the reverser lever has likely failed. Remove the steering column shrouds/dash panels to access the reverser assembly.
Install New Component
Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty reverser lever and unbolt it from the console. Install the new Left-Hand Reverser Multi-Function Control Unit.
Clear and Test
Turn the key on, clear the stored 522122.31 fault code from the FCC, and test the forward/reverse functionality to ensure the transmission engages properly and the code does not return.
