John Deere 522150.14 – PTQ: The Transmission Will Not Shift Due To Possible Engine Overspeed

This is an informational diagnostic trouble code generated when the control software detects that the engine speed is too high for the requested gear or group. To protect the engine and transmission from overload or stalling, the control software prevents the requested gear or range shift.

   Verify if the operator is attempting to downshift while the tractor is traveling at a speed that would cause the engine to overspeed

   Check the wheel speed sensors and transmission speed sensors for erratic readings if the code appears during normal operation speeds

   Ensure that the speed data received via the CAN BUS is accurate and that there are no loose connections or corrosion in the wiring harness

   Vehicle Recovery

   Disengage the transmission to prevent engine stall. Return the shift lever to the "Park" or "Neutral" position to attempt vehicle recovery.

   Cycle Power

   Turn the tractor's ignition key switch off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on. Many PTQ informational codes can be cleared simply by cycling the power.
