522189.04

John Deere 522189.04 – AIC (Armrest Interface Control Unit): iTEC™ Sequence 3/4 Switch Circuits Voltage Low

Issue description

The Armrest Interface Control Unit is detecting abnormally low voltage across all three input signals of the iTEC (Intelligent Total Equipment Control / Headland Management) sequence 3/4 switch, typically indicating a short to ground, a disconnected harness, or a physically stuck/defective switch.

Check the cause

  1. Check if the iTEC sequence switch on the armrest is physically stuck, jammed by debris, or has been pressed for too long.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the iTEC switch to the Armrest Interface Control Unit for pinched wires, chafing, or a short to ground.

  3. Check the AIC for other active codes (such as CAN Bus or LIN Bus communication errors) which might indicate a broader module failure rather than an isolated switch issue.

Repair steps

  1. Attempt System Recovery

Set the iTEC switch to the un-pressed (neutral) position and cycle the tractor's key to see if the system recovers and the code clears.

  2. Test the Circuit

If the code remains active, use a multimeter to test the voltage at the switch connector. If voltage is present at the harness but drops when the switch is plugged in, the switch itself has an internal short.

  3. Repair Wiring

If the harness shows a short to ground before reaching the switch, locate the damaged section of the armrest wiring harness and repair or replace it.

  4. Replace the Switch/Module

If the switch is confirmed defective (internal short or physically broken), replace the iTEC switch kit or the integrated armrest switch module.

  5. Clear Codes

After replacing the part or repairing the wire, clear the fault codes via the CommandCenter display and test the iTEC headland management functions to ensure normal operation.
