John Deere 522191.03 – PTQ: High Voltage On Signal Line From Range C-D Position Sensor Command Quad.
Issue description
The sensor responsible for monitoring the position of the C-D range slider in the CommandQuad transmission is returning a voltage signal that is higher than the acceptable threshold. In John Deere systems, a ".03" FMI (Failure Mode Identifier) typically indicates a "Voltage Too High" condition, which is most commonly caused by an open circuit (broken wire), a short to a power source, or an internally shorted/failed sensor.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the Range C-D Position Sensor's electrical connector on the transmission housing for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture ingress.
Check the wiring harness between the PTQ module and the sensor for a broken ground wire (open circuit) or a signal wire shorted to a 12V or 5V power source.
Cycle the tractor's power to see if the fault is active or stored. Return the shift lever to Park to attempt a system recovery.
Repair steps
Safely park the tractor on level ground, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Clean the area around the Range C-D Position Sensor on the CommandQuad transmission to prevent dirt from entering the transmission housing.
Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor.
Remove the retaining bolts holding the sensor in place and carefully extract the sensor from the transmission.
Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean transmission hydraulic fluid.
Install the new sensor and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR and perform a CommandQuad selector rod position sensor calibration.
The PTQ module needs to learn the physical end-stops (voltages) of the new sensor for the C and D ranges.
Clear the 522191.03 fault code and test drive the tractor, ensuring smooth shifts between the C and D ranges.
