522192.03

John Deere 522192.03 – Main Control Module (PTQ): High Voltage On Signal Line From Range A-B Position Sensor Command Quad.

Issue description

The transmission control system monitors the position of the shift slides to determine which gear range is engaged. This code indicates that the voltage signal returning from the position sensor for slide A/B is too high. A "voltage too high" condition typically points to an open circuit in the sensor ground, a short to power in the signal wire, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110M
  • 6120M
  • 6130M
  • 6145M
  • 6155M
  • 6175M
  • 6195M

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness routing from the PTQ module to the transmission range A-B position sensor for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched lines.

  2. Disconnect the sensor and check for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture inside the connector.

  3. Test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage and has a solid ground connection.

  4. Ensure there is no mechanical binding in the transmission shifting mechanism (Slide A/B) that could be forcing the sensor out of its normal operating range.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Locate the Range A-B Position Sensor on the CommandQuad transmission housing (refer to the transmission shifting mechanisms section of the housing).

  3. Removal

Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Remove the retaining bolt(s) securing the sensor to the transmission housing and carefully pull the sensor out.

  4. Installation

Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean transmission oil. Insert the new sensor into the housing and tighten the retaining hardware to OEM torque specifications.

  5. Reconnection

Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Calibration

Connect a diagnostic tool to clear the 522192.03 PTQ fault code. A transmission calibration procedure may be required so the PTQ module can learn the neutral and end positions of the new A/B slide sensor.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • CommandQuad Transmission Range A-B Position Sensor / Slide A/B Position Sensor

Exact part number depends on serial number. Do not confuse with Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor (RE212870 / RE204264) or Transmission Housing Speed Sensor (AL161475 / RE295938).
