John Deere 522194.15 – PTQ: Neutral Position Not Registered On Signal Line From Range C-D Position Sensor
Issue description
The transmission control system is unable to verify that the C-D range synchronizer (or slider) has successfully returned to or is resting in the neutral position, causing the controller to typically disengage the transmission to prevent mechanical damage or an engine stall.

Check the cause
Look at the CommandCenter display and follow any immediate on-screen prompts
Cycle power by turning the tractor's ignition key switch completely OFF, waiting a moment, and turning it back ON to reset the PTQ module
Move the transmission shift lever into the 'Park' or 'Neutral' position to attempt vehicle recovery and re-register the sensor's position
Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the Range C-D position sensor on the transmission housing for frayed wires, corrosion, or loose connections
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Bring the tractor to a complete stop and place the shift lever in Park to prevent engine stall.
Locate the Sensor
Identify the Range C-D position sensor on the transmission valve housing.
Test the Circuit
Check the signal line voltage from the sensor to the PTQ module to ensure it is not shorted or suffering from low voltage.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the sensor fails to read the neutral position, remove and replace the position sensor.
Recalibrate
After replacing transmission sensors, perform a transmission calibration via the John Deere Service Advisor tool to teach the PTQ module the new sensor's exact neutral, engaged, and disengaged voltage values.
