   Inspect around the batteries and alternator for any visual signs of damage or accumulated debris, as low overall system voltage can trigger PTQ module codes.

   Trace the wiring harness from the Range C-D Position Sensor on the CommandQuad transmission range box back to the PTQ module. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or areas where the signal wire may be shorting to the chassis ground.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the sensor is receiving its standard reference voltage (usually 5V) and has a good ground. Test the signal wire for continuity and ensure it is not shorted to ground. If the wiring is intact but the signal voltage remains out of spec when plugged in, the sensor is internally shorted.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the Range C-D Position Sensor on the CommandQuad transmission housing (refer to the Range Box section of your specific model's technical manual).

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Remove the retaining hardware holding the sensor in place and carefully pull the sensor from the transmission housing.
