John Deere 522311.05 – VLC (Vehicle Load Center) / CCU: Rear Washer Pump Circuit Current Low

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the rear washer pump for wire fatigue, mechanical damage, disconnections, or corrosion

   Verify that the fuse and relay assigned to the rear washer pump circuit are intact (a blown fuse or stuck open relay causes a low/zero amp reading)

   Use a multimeter to measure the current in the rear washer pump circuit to confirm it is below 500 mA, and check for continuity between the VLC output pin and the washer pump connector

   Unplug the washer pump and test the internal resistance of the motor (an infinite resistance reading means the motor is internally open)

   Locate the Pump

   Locate the rear washer pump, which is typically mounted directly to the windshield washer fluid reservoir.

   Check the Connector

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the pump. Clean out any dirt or corrosion using electrical contact cleaner. Reconnect it and test the system to see if a poor connection was the culprit.

   Verify Power and Ground

   With the connector unplugged, have an assistant activate the rear washer switch in the cab. Use a multimeter to check for 12V power and a solid ground at the harness connector.

   Repair Wiring

   If power or ground is missing, trace the wiring harness back to the VLC, repairing any broken wires or replacing blown fuses/relays as necessary.

   Replace the Pump

   If the harness provides proper power and ground but the pump does not run (or if the pump motor tested as an open circuit), the pump itself has failed. Drain the washer fluid, pull the old pump out of the reservoir grommet, insert the new pump, and reconnect the fluid line and electrical connector.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key on, clear the VLC 522311.05 fault code via the cab monitor, and test the rear washer to ensure proper operation.
