522312.06

John Deere 522312.06 – VLC (Vehicle Load Center Control Unit): Front Washer Pump Circuit Current High

Issue description

The electrical current drawn by the front windshield washer pump circuit has exceeded the normal operating threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to power in the wiring, a failing/seized washer pump motor drawing excessive amperage, or a damaged harness.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a system reset by placing the tractor in park, shutting off the engine, and restarting to verify if the active code reappears (clears false communication messages).

  2. Acknowledge the Service Alert on the CommandCenter by pressing the select switch to see if the display returns to normal mode.

  3. Inspect the washer motor circuit (designated as circuit M4) for a short to power.

  4. Ensure no aftermarket accessories have been improperly spliced into the VLC or wiper/washer circuits, which can cause the module to detect excessive total output current.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Pump

Access the front windshield washer pump (usually located at the base of the washer fluid reservoir).

  2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors

Disconnect the electrical connector to the pump. Inspect the pins for corrosion, melting, or water ingress. Check the wiring harness leading back to the VLC for chafing or exposed wires that could be shorting to a power source.

  3. Test the Motor

Use a multimeter to test the internal resistance of the washer pump motor. If the motor is internally shorted (reading very low or zero ohms), it will draw high amps and trip the 522312.06 code.

  4. Replace the Pump

If the wiring is intact but the pump is internally shorted or seized, replace the washer pump.

  5. Dealer Intervention

If the pump and wiring test fine but the code persists, have a dealer inspect the VLC module itself, as the internal driver for that circuit may be faulty.
