John Deere 522379.03 – PTA, TCU, or VCU: High Voltage On Park Lock Solenoid
Issue description
The control software detects that the voltage in the positive lead of the park lock solenoid valve 1 (Y15/1, Y19, or Y7) is above 12V, indicating a short to a positive supply lead at the signal input. As a reaction, the machine will typically experience limited or no function of the park lock mechanism and may enter a protective mode.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the park lock solenoid (Y15/1, Y19, or Y7) for any signs of shorting to a positive lead.
Examine all connections at the solenoid and the transmission module to ensure they are secure, free of corrosion, and not contaminated by transmission fluid or water.
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the signal input of the park lock solenoid valve to determine if the solenoid itself is internally shorted.
Verify that the PTA/TCU is correctly processing signals and that the control unit software is up to date.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Because the park lock mechanism is compromised, ensure the machine is parked on level ground and physically chocked before beginning work.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the park brake release solenoid (Y15/1, Y19, or Y7). On most IVT/PowrQuad transmissions and loader axles, this is located on the top or side of the transmission housing.
Disconnect and Inspect
Tag and disconnect the wiring harness from the solenoid. Inspect the pins for damage.
Trace the Short
Using a multimeter, trace the positive lead (e.g., lead 6047) back to the PTA/TCU to isolate the short to power. Repair any rubbed or melted wire insulation.
Replace the Solenoid
If the wiring harness is intact and the short is internal to the solenoid, remove the retaining hardware and extract the solenoid valve. (Note: On some models, you may need to drain a portion of the transmission oil before removing transmission-mounted solenoids).
Reassemble
Install the new solenoid, reconnect the wiring harness securely, and clear the fault codes from the PTA/TCU.
Test
Cycle the park brake to ensure the code does not return and the park lock engages/disengages properly.
