John Deere 522379.04 – PLC, PTA, or TCU: Park Lock Solenoid Voltage Low

The control software has detected that the voltage in the positive lead of the park lock solenoid valve is too low. This typically means the circuit is shorted to ground, either within the wiring harness or internally inside the solenoid coil itself, which limits or disables the park lock/release function.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the Park Lock Solenoid (Y15/1, Y15/2, Y7, or Y19) for rubbed-through wire insulation, pinched wires, or melted casing that could cause a short to the machine's chassis (ground).

   Disconnect the solenoid and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.

   With the solenoid disconnected and the machine off, use a multimeter to check for continuity between the solenoid's positive signal wire and a known good chassis ground. If continuity exists, the wiring harness is shorted.

   Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the solenoid itself. If the resistance is near 0 ohms, the solenoid is internally shorted.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the machine on a level surface, lower any attachments (bucket/hitch) to the ground, place the transmission in Neutral, and turn off the engine.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the Park Lock / Park Brake Release Solenoid. On tractors, this is typically on the transmission valve block; on loaders, it is usually mounted on top of the transmission.

   Isolate the Fault

   Disconnect the solenoid. Turn the key to the ON position (engine off) and clear the codes. If code 522379.05 (Open Circuit) appears instead of 522379.04 (Short to Ground), the short is internal to the solenoid. If 522379.04 remains, the short is in the wiring harness.

   Repair Wiring

   If the short is in the wiring harness, trace the harness back to the PLC/PTA/TCU controller. Locate the chafed or damaged wire, splice in a new section of wire using weather-sealed connectors, and secure the harness away from pinch points.

   Replace Solenoid

   If the solenoid is internally shorted, unbolt the retaining hardware for the solenoid coil/valve assembly. Swap in the new OEM solenoid and torque to factory specifications.

   Verify Repair

   Reconnect the harness, start the machine, and verify that the park lock releases properly and the fault code does not return.
