522379.05

John Deere 522379.05 – PLC / PTA / TCU / HCU: Park Lock Solenoid Low Amp Draw

Issue description

The control unit has detected an open circuit or insufficient current at the signal input of the park lock/brake release solenoid valve (Y15/1 or Y7). This indicates a potential disconnection, a break in the wiring harness, or a failed solenoid coil, which prevents the parking brake from releasing.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the park lock solenoid valve for signs of disconnection, breaks, corrosion, or dirt.

  2. Measure the resistance/current across pins A and B of the park brake release solenoid using a multimeter.

  3. Check for electrical continuity between the solenoid plug and the corresponding pins on the control unit (VCU/TCU/PLC) connector.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the machine and disconnect switched power (disconnect the battery ground if necessary).

  2. Isolate the Solenoid

Locate and unplug the connector to the parking brake release solenoid (Y7 or Y15/1).

  3. Test the Component

Check the resistance between plug A and B of the solenoid. If the resistance is out of specification (indicating an open or shorted coil), the solenoid is faulty and must be replaced.

  4. Test the Harness

If the solenoid tests within spec, unplug the main connector from the control unit. Perform a continuity test on the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the control unit connector.

  5. Repair Wiring

If continuity fails, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness or the connector.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect all components, restore power, clear the diagnostic trouble codes via the monitor, and test the park brake function.
