John Deere 522379.05 – PTA (Transmission Module IVT): Park Lock Solenoid Valve 1, Current Too Low

The control software detects that the current in the ground lead (often lead 6047) of the park lock solenoid valve 1 (Y15/1) is too low. This indicates an open circuit, a break in the wiring, or a failed internal solenoid coil that is preventing sufficient current draw.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the Y15/1 park lock solenoid for any signs of disconnection, chafing, or breaks.

   Disconnect the solenoid and check the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals. Ensure all connections are secure.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance and current draw at the signal input of the park lock solenoid valve. If the solenoid coil is open (infinite resistance) or not drawing the correct current, the solenoid itself is faulty.

   Verify that the solenoid valve circuit is properly grounded to the chassis/main ground. Correct any grounding issues that may be causing the low current flow.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and chock the wheels (since the park lock mechanism is currently compromised).

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the Y15/1 Park Lock Solenoid Valve on the transmission valve block.

   Harness Repair (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or bad connector in the harness (e.g., lead 6047), splice and repair the wire using OEM-approved waterproof connectors, or replace the jumper harness.

   Replace the Solenoid (If Faulty)

   Clean the area around the solenoid to prevent debris from entering the transmission valve block. Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid. Unbolt/unscrew the faulty Y15/1 solenoid valve from the transmission block. Install the new solenoid valve, ensuring any O-rings or seals are properly seated and lubricated with clean transmission fluid. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear and Test

   Turn the key on, clear the stored PTA 522379.05 fault code via the cab monitor, and test the park lock engagement/disengagement to ensure the transmission holds and releases properly.
