John Deere 522379.14 – Rear Chassis Module (PLC): Park Lock Solenoid High Voltage Solenoid 2 Direct Drive
Issue description
The control unit detects an electrical issue causing a higher-than-expected voltage (or a short to a positive lead) at the signal input of the Park Lock Solenoid Valve 2 (designated as component Y15/2), which may cause the system to enter a protective mode with limited or no function of the park lock mechanism.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- 6110R
- 6120R

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the Y15/2 park lock solenoid valve for any signs of damage, corrosion, or shorting to a positive lead
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the signal input of the park lock solenoid valve to confirm if there is an abnormally high voltage reading indicating a short or internal solenoid failure
Verify that the solenoid valve circuit is properly grounded, as grounding issues can cause voltage irregularities
Check the system for any other active PLC diagnostic trouble codes to ensure the PLC control unit is correctly processing signals
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on level ground and securely block the wheels, as you will be disabling the parking lock mechanism. Disconnect the battery before beginning electrical work.
Access the Solenoid
Locate the Y15/2 Park Lock Solenoid Valve, which is typically mounted near the transmission or rear axle housing.
Harness Repair
If your diagnostic checks revealed a short to a positive lead or damaged wiring in the harness, repair or replace the affected wiring and connectors.
Remove the Faulty Solenoid
Disconnect the electrical connector from the Y15/2 solenoid. Carefully remove the old solenoid valve, noting the hydraulic line routing.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the mounting area on the transmission/valve block. Any dirt or contamination entering the hydraulic system here can cause premature failure of the new part.
Install the New Solenoid
Install the replacement Park Lock Solenoid Valve 2. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical connector.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and test the parking lock multiple times to ensure you hear the solid click of engagement and that the tractor holds securely.
Clear Codes
Clear the 522379.14 fault code from the PLC and update the PLC control software if a newer version is available from the dealer.
Parts you might need
(1)Park Lock Solenoid Valve 2 (Component Y15/2)
This is an electronic solenoid valve that controls the parking lock system hydraulics. Ensure you specify your exact 6R model and transmission type (e.g., Direct Drive) when ordering from the dealer, as the exact OEM part number varies by specific transmission sub-assembly.
