John Deere 522379.17 – Rear Chassis Module (PLC): Park Lock Solenoid Low Amp Draw Solenoid 2 Direct Drive
Issue description
The controller has detected that the current (amp draw) flowing to Park Lock Solenoid 2 is too low. This typically indicates an open circuit, a break in the wiring, high resistance at a connector, or a failed solenoid coil internally.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (X340/1 or X340/2) leading to the Y15/2 Park Lock Solenoid Valve 2 for physical damage, loose pins, or corrosion.
Use a multimeter to inspect the circuit between the PLC module and the solenoid for any open connections or breaks in the wire.
Measure the resistance and current flow of the solenoid valve coil using a multimeter to check for an open circuit or incorrect current draw.
Ensure that the solenoid valve circuit is properly grounded, as a poor ground can cause a low current flow reading.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Ensure the tractor is parked on a flat surface and securely chocked so it cannot roll.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate Park Lock Solenoid 2 (Y15/2) on the DirectDrive transmission valve block.
Disconnect Harness
Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the defective solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid
Remove the retaining hardware (screws or bolts) securing the solenoid to the transmission block and pull the solenoid out. Have a rag ready to catch any residual transmission fluid.
Install the New Solenoid
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert it into the valve block and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Test
Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 522379.17 fault code from the PLC module. Start the tractor and test the park lock engagement and disengagement to verify the repair.
