John Deere 522390.11 – PTF: Tractor-Implement Automation™ Fault

Issue description

This code is generated when the tractor's 'come-home' (limp) mode is activated or when a full stop is commanded by the system. As a safety reaction, the control software deactivates all functions of the Tractor-Implement Automation and guidance systems, disabling vehicle motion.

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the 'come-home' (limp) mode is actively engaged and whether it needs to be deactivated for normal operation

  2. Check the CAN Bus wiring and connections between the tractor and the implement for security, corrosion, and compatibility

  3. Verify if there are any available updates for the PTF and transmission control software

  4. Use John Deere Service ADVISOR to monitor CAN Bus traffic and identify any anomalies or missing messages from the implement

Repair steps

  1. Halt the Vehicle

Bring the tractor to a complete stop if it hasn't already been commanded to do so.

  2. Attempt Vehicle Recovery

Return the transmission Shift Lever to the "Park" position.

  3. Cycle Power

Turn off the engine and cycle the key switch. Many automation abort messages are temporary and can be cleared simply by cycling the power or following the on-screen solution on the CommandCenter page.

  4. Restart and Test

Restart the engine and attempt to re-engage the Front PTO and automation systems.

  5. Software Update

If the code returns immediately, connect the diagnostic tool and flash the latest software updates to the PTF module and implement controllers.

  6. Module Replacement

If wiring checks pass, software is up to date, and the PTF module fails to communicate or hold engagement, replace the Front PTO Control Unit.
