522390.12

John Deere 522390.12 – XSC: Tractor-Implement Automation™, Fault

Issue description

The tractor receives no valid information from the implement via the implement CAN Bus network. This indicates a communication breakdown, which forces the control software to deactivate all functions of the Tractor-Implement Automation™ (TIA) system for safety.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110M
  • 6120M
  • 6130M
  • 6145M
  • 6155M
  • 6175M
  • 6195M
  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 8245R
  • 8400R

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the implement CAN Bus wiring and connectors between the tractor and the implement for physical damage, loose connections, or pin corrosion.

  2. Ensure the CAN Bus network is properly terminated at the implement end (check for missing or fractured terminator resistor).

  3. Use a John Deere diagnostic tool (Service ADVISOR) to monitor CAN Bus traffic for anomalies, excessive errors, or network overloading.

  4. Verify that the implement's control software is up to date and functioning correctly.

Repair steps

  1. Visual Inspection & Harness Repair

Trace the ISOBUS/CAN Bus harness from the tractor's rear implement connector to the implement's control module. Repair any chafed wires or replace heavily corroded connectors.

  2. Test/Replace the CAN Bus Terminator

Locate the CAN Bus terminator (usually a 6-pin mini-boot style connector at the end of the CAN circuit). If it is damaged, cracked, or missing, replace it to restore proper network resistance (120 Ohms).

  3. Update Software

Flash the latest software updates to both the tractor's XSC module and the implement controller to resolve any TIA compatibility bugs.

  4. Clear and Retest

Clear the 522390.12 fault code. Re-engage the Tractor-Implement Automation™ system and verify that the implement communicates properly. If the issue persists, John Deere technical support may need to review the CAN Bus activity logs.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • CAN Bus Terminator (Mini Boot Style - 6-pin)

    RE207311

Installed at the end of a CAN bus implement or harness circuit to prevent signal reflections. Fits 5M, 6M, 6R, 7R, 8R, and 9R series tractors.

  • ISO Cab Implement CAN Bus Adapter Wiring Harness

    RE322780

    Used to connect ISO-compliant implements to 7R, 8R, 8RT, 8RX, 9R, and 9RX tractors.

  • Implement CAN Bus Connectors / ISOBUS Y-Cables

Specific part numbers vary heavily by the exact implement and tractor configuration, but 9-pin ISOBUS extension cables and connectors are common replacement items if the main harness is damaged.
