Check the cause

  1. Inspect physical ISOBUS/CAN connections between the tractor and the implement to ensure they are secure, free of dirt/debris, and functioning correctly.

  2. Verify that the attached implement is fully compatible with John Deere's Tractor-Implement Automation™.

  3. Inspect the CAN Bus wiring harness and connectors (especially at the rear implement connector) for any signs of damage, loose connections, or corrosion, and ensure all connections are properly terminated.

  4. Monitor CAN Bus traffic using a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to look for anomalies, excessive errors, or an overloaded network.

  5. Check the software versions on both the implement control unit and the tractor's XSC module to ensure they are up to date.

Repair steps

  1. Clean and Secure Connections

    Disconnect the implement from the tractor's rear ISOBUS/CAN receptacle. Clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect the implement.

  2. Harness Continuity Test

    If the code persists, trace the CAN Bus wiring from the rear implement connector to the XSC (Steering Module). Test for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power. Repair or replace any damaged sections of the wiring harness.

  3. Software Update

    Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR. Check for and install any available software updates for the XSC control software and the implement to address potential bugs or compatibility issues.

  4. Implement Verification

    Test the tractor with a different, known-good TIA-compatible implement. If the code does not return, the fault lies within the original implement's internal CAN network or controller.

  5. Module Replacement

    If the wiring is intact, software is updated, and the implement is verified good, the XSC (Steering Module) itself may be failing to process the CAN messages and may require replacement and reprogramming by a dealer.
