John Deere 522433.06 – RLC (Cab Roof Module / Roof Load Controller) or CLC (Cab Load Center): Rear Wiper High Amp Draw / Rear Wiper Motor Circuit Current Problem

The controller has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing through the rear wiper motor circuit is higher than the specified limit, which typically points to a short to ground in the wiring, an internally shorted wiper motor, or a mechanical binding issue causing the motor to overwork.

   Perform a system reset by restarting the engine/machine to verify if the active DTC reappears

   Inspect the rear wiper arm and blade for physical obstructions, heavy mud, debris, or mechanical binding

   Inspect the wiring harness routing from the RLC/CLC to the rear wiper motor for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or exposed copper causing a short to ground

   Disconnect the rear wiper motor and perform a resistance test to check for internal shorts (abnormally low resistance indicates a faulty motor)

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery

   Ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

   Clear physical obstructions

   Clear any physical obstructions from the rear window and wiper arm path.

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   If wiring damage is found during the diagnostic phase, repair the damaged section of the harness using OEM-approved connectors and heat shrink, or replace the affected harness section.

   Remove rear wiper arm

   If the motor is diagnosed as faulty, remove the rear wiper arm from the exterior of the cab.

   Access the wiper motor

   Access the wiper motor from inside the cab (usually requiring the removal of the rear interior roof/window trim panel).

   Disconnect electrical connector

   Disconnect the electrical connector to the motor.

   Remove faulty motor

   Unbolt the motor mounting bracket and remove the faulty motor.

   Install new wiper motor

   Install the new OEM wiper motor, secure the mounting bolts, and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reinstall trim and wiper arm

   Reinstall the interior trim and the exterior wiper arm.

    Test rear wiper function

    Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and test the rear wiper function to ensure the 522433.06 code has cleared.
