John Deere 522435.06 – CLC (Cab Load Center): Front Windscreen Wiper Fast Speed Circuit High Amp Draw

Issue description

The control module has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing through the front wiper motor's high-speed circuit has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold. This is typically caused by a mechanical bind, a failing wiper motor drawing too much power, or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness.

Check the cause

  1. Cycle the front wiper switch ON and OFF to see if a momentary surge caused the code

  2. Restart the machine to verify if the active DTC reappears and reset communication messages

  3. Check for physical obstructions on the windshield (heavy snow, ice, mud) that could jam the wiper blade

  4. Check for and remove improperly spliced aftermarket accessories on the wiper circuit

Repair steps

  1. Isolate the Linkage

Park the machine, turn off the key, and access the front wiper motor. Disconnect the wiper linkage from the motor and move the wiper arms by hand. If they are stiff or seized, lubricate or replace the wiper linkage/pivot shafts.

  2. Test the Motor

If the linkage moves freely, the issue is likely the motor or the wiring. Disconnect the electrical connector at the wiper motor.

  3. Check the Wiring Harness

Using a multimeter, check the high-speed circuit wire between the CLC module and the wiper motor connector for a short to ground. If continuity to ground is found on the power wire, trace the harness and repair the chafed or pinched wire.

  4. Replace the Motor

If the wiring harness tests good, the wiper motor has an internal short or internal mechanical failure causing the high amp draw. Replace the front wiper motor.

  5. Clear Codes and Verify

Reconnect the new motor, turn the key ON, and run the wipers on high speed to verify that fault code 522435.06 does not return.
