John Deere 522497.05 – OIC: Low Amps On Diff Lock Solenoid
Issue description
The control module detects Current Below Normal or an Open Circuit on the Differential Lock Solenoid circuit. When the operator engages the differential lock, the module sends voltage to the solenoid coil. If the module detects little to no amperage draw, it flags this code.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the differential lock solenoid and wiring harness for obvious breaks, rodent damage, or chafing against the chassis.
Unplug the solenoid and check the connector for water intrusion, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.
Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter across the two pins on the solenoid coil. An infinite (O.L / Open) reading indicates the internal coil is broken.
If the coil tests good, perform a harness continuity test on the power and ground wires from the solenoid connector back to the OIC module to isolate a broken wire.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Access the Solenoid
Clean the area around the differential lock solenoid valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Remove the Coil
Unplug the electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut or snap-ring at the end of the solenoid valve stem.
Swap the Coil
Slide the old electromagnetic coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge. (Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic valve cartridge itself, meaning no hydraulic fluid will be lost).
Install the New Coil
Slide the new coil onto the stem, secure it with the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge), and plug the electrical connector back in.
Test
Reconnect the battery, clear the inactive fault codes from the OIC module, and test the diff lock engagement to ensure the code does not return.
