Check the cause

  1. Inspect the buttons on the armrest navigation bar (under the screen) for physical binding, dirt, debris, or sticky residue that might be holding the button down

  2. Cycle the key switch (turn the tractor's ignition off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on) to see if the module resets and the code clears

  3. Access the tractor's diagnostic addresses through the CommandCenter display and check address CSM 030 or CSM 031 to verify exactly which switch the module is reading as continuously pressed

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Switch

If the diagnostic menu confirms a stuck switch, use an electrical contact cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean around the edges of the affected button. Gently work the button to free any physical binding.

  2. Module Replacement

If the button is broken internally or the module has suffered a hardware failure, the Cab Switch Module / Armrest Navigation Bar must be replaced.

  3. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  4. Remove Armrest Trim

Carefully pry or unbolt the trim/bezel surrounding the CommandARM controls to access the underside of the navigation bar.

  5. Disconnect Harnesses

Unplug the electrical extension harnesses connected to the Armrest Navigation Bar Module (e.g., W577 harness).

  6. Swap the Module

Remove the retaining screws holding the CSM/Navigation Bar in place. Install the new OEM module and secure the screws.

  7. Reassembly and Calibration

Reconnect the wiring harnesses, reinstall the armrest trim, and reconnect the battery. Turn the key switch on. Note: Depending on the tractor series, a new CSM may require software configuration and calibration (Device ID Address CSM 000) using John Deere Service ADVISOR.
