John Deere 522580.19 – CCU (Chassis Control Unit): Front-Wheel Drive Switch, Fault
Issue description

Check the cause
Check the cab fuse panel for blown fuses related to the transmission or MFWD switch (often a 15-amp fuse).
Inspect the MFWD switch on the side console for physical damage, sticking, or lack of tactile 'click' when toggled.
Remove the console trim to access the back of the switch and inspect the wiring harness plug (often a 6-pin connector) for loose pins, pushed-out wires, or corrosion.
Unplug the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals in both the ON and OFF positions. If the switch does not show a change in state, it has failed internally.
Verify that the switch is receiving reference voltage from the CCU when the key is in the ON position.
Repair steps
Prepare machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate switch
Locate the MFWD switch on the right-hand operator console.
Access switch
Depending on the model, either carefully pry the switch upward out of its mounting bracket using a plastic trim tool, or remove the retaining screws for the side console panel to access the underside.
Disconnect harness
Depress the locking tab on the electrical harness connector and unplug it from the bottom of the switch.
Remove old switch
Remove the old switch from the panel.
Install new switch
Snap the new OEM switch into the console bracket until it clicks securely into place.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new switch.
Reassemble and reconnect battery
Reinstall any console panels that were removed and reconnect the battery.
Test and clear codes
Turn the ignition ON, clear the stored CCU fault codes via the diagnostic monitor, and test the MFWD engagement to ensure the code does not return.
