   Inspect the wiring harness routing from the steering control unit (XSC/XSA/TSA) to the steering control valve for chafing, pinch points, or severed wires.

   Disconnect the harness at the steering valve and the control unit. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-back pins.

   Using a multimeter, perform a continuity test on the 'Ground 2' circuit wire between the steering valve connector and the control unit connector to isolate the exact location of the break.

   Power Down

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Isolate the Fault

   Based on the continuity test, locate the break in the Ground 2 wire.

   Repair the Wiring

   If a wire is broken or chafed, splice and solder a new section of wire, sealing it with marine-grade heat shrink. If a connector pin is corroded or damaged, de-pin the connector and crimp on a new terminal.

   Reassemble and Secure

   Reconnect the harness to the steering valve and the control unit. Ensure the harness is zip-tied away from moving parts or high-heat areas to prevent a recurrence.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to clear the 522767.05 code. Start the tractor and perform a steering operational check (turning lock-to-lock) to ensure the code does not return and steering effort is normal.
