John Deere 522876.19 – BLC / PTF / RPT: Incorrect CAN BUS Message, Implement Sends Error Message

Issue description

The tractor's internal network is receiving a corrupted signal, an error state, or a communication failure originating from the connected ISOBUS implement.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110M
  • 6120M
  • 6130M
  • 6145M
  • 6155M
  • 6175M
  • 6195M
  • 6090MC
  • 6090RC
  • 6100MC
  • 6100RC
  • 6110MC
  • 6110RC

Check the cause

  1. Isolate the implement by disconnecting it from the tractor's ISOBUS breakaway connector. If the code goes inactive, the fault is isolated to the implement.

  2. Inspect the 9-pin ISOBUS connector at the rear of the tractor and the implement plug for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

  3. Test CAN bus termination resistors with a multimeter between pins C and D of the diagnostic connector (60 ohms is normal, 120 ohms indicates one missing/damaged resistor, OL indicates both missing or severed network).

  4. Perform a wiring and ground audit on the implement harness, checking for chafing, moisture intrusion, and poor grounding.

Repair steps

  1. Clean and Secure Connections

If moisture or debris is found in the ISOBUS connector, clean the terminals thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reconnect.

  2. Repair Harness Damage

If the wiring audit reveals chafed wires or poor grounds on the implement side, repair the wiring harness, ensuring all splices are properly sealed against moisture.

  3. Replace Missing/Failed Terminators

If the multimeter test showed 120 ohms or OL, locate and replace the faulty CAN bus terminating resistor on the network loop.

  4. Address Implement ECU

If the wiring and terminators are intact but the implement still sends an error message, the implement's own control module may require a software update or replacement.

  5. Clear Codes

Once the physical repair is complete, clear the fault codes from the tractor's display and test the implement's operation to ensure the communication fault does not return.
