John Deere 523217.03 – SCO / SCC / HCU: Unswitched Supply Voltage High to Front SCVs
Issue description
The unswitched electrical supply voltage for the Front Selective Control Valve (SCV) has spiked above 18.0 Volts. The controller reacts by disabling the SCV functions and turning them off to prevent potential damage.

Check the cause
Monitor voltage at the Front SCV inputs using a multimeter to check for spikes above the 18.0V threshold
Inspect the voltage regulator and alternator; a malfunctioning internal regulator will allow system voltage to rise above safe levels
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the SCO/SCC module and the Front SCV for signs of a short to a higher voltage source, damaged insulation, poor connections, or corrosion
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage during testing.
Access the Components
Locate the SCO/SCC module and the affected Front SCV (Valve 12 / SV VI).
Test the Harness
Disconnect the wiring harness at both the SCV and the module. Test the unswitched power circuit for a short to power. If a short is found, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.
Test the Charging System
Reconnect the battery and start the engine. Measure the voltage output directly at the alternator. If the alternator is overcharging the system (producing 18+ volts instead of the standard ~14V), the alternator/voltage regulator must be replaced.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Once the wiring is repaired or the alternator is replaced, reconnect all components. Use a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to clear the SCO/SCC codes.
Verify Operation
Operate the front hitch/SCV to ensure the voltage remains stable and the code does not return.
