John Deere 523219.04 – XSC / XSA / TSA / HCU / SCC: Supply Voltage (BAT) Too Low / Valve Power Supply Voltage Low
Issue description
The unswitched supply voltage (BAT) to the control software has dropped below 9.0 volts, limiting or disabling the control software's ability to function and disabling steering or hydraulic valves.

Check the cause
Verify the overall battery voltage and alternator output to ensure the electrical system is not being overloaded.
Power down the machine and check the specific fuse supplying power to the XSC, XSA, or HCU module (often labeled as Valve Power 1).
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the module (specifically checking pin J2M3 on the XSC) for signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
Use a multimeter to monitor the live voltage supplied to the module in real-time to ensure it stays above the 9.0V threshold under load.
Repair steps
Attempt System Recovery
Reduce the electrical load on the machine (turn off unnecessary lights/accessories) or increase the engine RPM to see if the alternator can recover the voltage drop. Restart the engine.
Replace Blown Fuses
If the code persists, power down the machine, locate the fuse panel, and inspect the fuse for the steering/hydraulic valve power supply. Replace it if blown.
Repair Wiring/Connectors
Disconnect the harness at the affected module. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If you find high resistance, chafed wires, or an open circuit on the power supply line (e.g., pin J2M3), repair or splice the damaged section of the wiring harness.
Test the System
Reconnect the harness, turn the key on, and restart the engine. Check if the code moves to a "stored" status or clears entirely.
Module Replacement
If the power supply to the module is verified to be a stable 12V+ under load but the module still reports low internal voltage, the control unit itself has an internal hardware failure and must be replaced and reprogrammed by a John Deere dealer.
