523316.04

John Deere 523316.04 – CCU (Chassis Control Unit): CCU Switched Supply Voltage Low

Issue description

The switched 12-volt power supply to the control unit has dropped below the normal operating threshold, specifically falling below 9.0 volts. This low voltage condition can impair the functionality of the module, leading to potential issues in managing and controlling various vehicle systems.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the battery and alternator to ensure they are providing adequate power to the machine

  2. Examine all wiring and electrical connections leading to the CCU for damage, corrosion, or looseness that could cause voltage drops

  3. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage directly at the CCU terminals to confirm the low voltage condition and identify where the voltage drop is occurring

  4. Investigate any potential parasitic electrical draws that might be draining power from the system when the machine is off

Repair steps

  1. Address the Power Source

If the battery is weak or not holding a charge, replace it. If the alternator is failing to maintain system voltage, repair or replace the alternator.

  2. Repair the Circuit

Clean and tighten all battery terminals and chassis grounds. Repair or replace any damaged wiring, corroded connectors, or faulty relays/fuses in the switched power circuit supplying the CCU.

  3. Reset and Recalibrate

After resolving the electrical supply issues, clear the fault codes. Reset the CCU and recalibrate the system if needed to ensure proper operation.
