523331.03

John Deere 523331.03 – PTD: Reverse Brake Oil Pressure Sensor Voltage Too High

Issue description

The control software detects that the voltage at the lead of the reverse brake oil pressure sensor is too high, typically indicating an electrical short circuit in the sensor itself or within its wiring harness.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R

  • 6110M-6215R

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical lead and connector at the reverse brake oil pressure sensor for damaged wires, corrosion, or a short circuit to power

  2. Use a multimeter to test the voltage at the sensor lead to confirm the high voltage reading

  3. Check the transmission oil circuit for blockages or leaks that could be causing secondary pressure issues

  4. Perform a diagnostic test on the reverse brake proportional solenoid valve to ensure it is functioning correctly and not contributing to the fault

  5. Verify that the transmission oil pump is operating correctly and providing sufficient pressure

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Sensor

Locate the reverse brake oil pressure sensor on the transmission valve housing.

  2. Disconnect and Inspect

Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Inspect the pins for damage and test the harness for a short circuit.

  3. Repair Wiring

If a short circuit is found in the wiring harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the harness.

  4. Replace the Sensor

If the wiring is intact and the short is internal to the sensor, unthread the defective reverse brake oil pressure sensor and install a new OEM replacement.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the electrical harness, clear the PTD 523331.03 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and start the machine.

  6. Monitor the System

After performing repairs, operate the transmission and monitor the oil pressure at the reverse brake to ensure it is within the specified range and the code does not return.
