John Deere 523349.02 – AIC (Armrest Interface Control Unit): AutoTrac™ Resume Switch Conflict

Issue description

The system logs this code when the ON and OFF contacts of the AutoTrac resume switch register the same value simultaneously. Because the switch is sending conflicting signals, the control unit restricts or completely disables the functionality of the AutoTrac resume switch to prevent incorrect operations and potential steering system errors.

Check the cause

  1. Examine the AutoTrac Resume Switch on the armrest for any signs of physical damage, wear, or debris (like dirt or spilled liquids) that might cause the button to stick physically.

  2. Cycle the tractor's ignition (turn the key off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on) to clear any temporary fault statuses set by the control software. Check if the code returns.

  3. Utilize a multimeter or diagnostic tools to evaluate the electrical connections and circuitry of the switch. Look for shorts, open circuits, or inconsistent signal outputs in the armrest wiring harness that could be causing both contacts to show the same value.

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Switch

If the diagnostic inspection reveals that debris is causing the switch to stick, carefully clean the area around the switch mechanism to free it.

  2. Repair Wiring

If circuit testing reveals a short or open circuit in the harness leading to the armrest module, repair the affected wiring.

  3. Replace the Switch

If the switch itself is internally shorted or defective (which is the most common cause for this specific conflict), remove the faulty switch from the armrest console and install a new AutoTrac Resume Switch.

  4. System Verification

After repairs or replacement, reset the system and perform a comprehensive functionality test to confirm that the AutoTrac resume switch operates correctly, engages the steering system properly, and no further fault codes are detected.
