Check the cause

  1. Cycle the key power to the tractor to see if the module can reboot and clear the configuration error.

  2. Verify that the SFA module is receiving proper supply voltage. Check the dedicated SFA fuse (often F30) to ensure it is intact and providing clean power.

  3. Connect John Deere Service Advisor to verify the current software payload on the SFA module and check if a recent flash event failed or was aborted.

Repair steps

  1. Attempt Module Recovery

Connect the John Deere Service Advisor diagnostic tool to the machine.

  2. Reprogram the SFA

Attempt to re-flash the SFA Control Unit with the correct, up-to-date software payload. Ensure battery voltage is stable (use a battery maintainer) during the flash process to prevent another interruption.

  3. Calibrate

If the flash is successful, perform the Suspended Front Axle calibration procedures (such as suspension position sensor calibration) as prompted by Service Advisor.

  4. Replace Module

If the SFA module refuses to take the software flash, or if the 523368.02 code immediately returns after a successful flash, the internal memory of the controller is permanently corrupted or physically damaged. The SFA Control Unit must be replaced.

  5. Post-Replacement

Install the new SFA module, flash it with the machine's specific software payload, and run all front suspension calibrations.
