Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Test Battery Voltage: Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage at the terminals. Ensure it is above 9 volts (ideally 12V+ when resting, 13.5V+ when running).

  2. Inspect Battery Connections: Check the battery terminals, cables, and connection studs for adequate charge, secure fitment, and lack of corrosion.

  3. Check the Charging System: Inspect the alternator and charging circuit to ensure the battery is receiving a proper charge while the engine is running.

  4. Inspect Fuses and Relays: Check the main system fuses and the specific ECU power circuit fuses for blown elements.

  5. Check ECU Connectors: Inspect the ECU wiring harness, specifically connectors ECU-J1 and ECU-J2, for loose pins, moisture, or high resistance.

  6. Monitor for Parasitic Drains: Ensure no electrical components are draining the battery excessively when the machine is turned off.

Repair steps

  1. Clean/Tighten Connections

    Disconnect the battery and thoroughly clean the battery posts, cable terminals, and connection studs with a wire brush. Reconnect and tighten securely.

  2. Recharge or Replace Battery

    If the battery voltage is consistently low and fails a load test, recharge it fully. If it cannot hold a charge, replace the battery.

  3. Repair the Charging System

    If the alternator is failing to output sufficient voltage to keep the system above 9V, replace the alternator or repair the charging harness.

  4. Replace Fuses/Wiring

    Replace any blown fuses on the ECU power circuit. If a wiring fault (open circuit) is found between the battery and the ECU, repair or replace the affected harness section.

  5. Reset and Monitor

    After repairs are made, use a diagnostic tool to clear the ECU fault codes. Run the machine and monitor the system to ensure the voltage remains stable and the code does not return.
