John Deere 523665.04 – RPT: Control Software, Supply Voltage (BAT) Too Low
Issue description
An undervoltage condition where the power supply to the module has dropped below the required operating threshold (typically below 9V or 4.0 VDC at the connector). This low voltage condition can impair or completely halt the functioning of the module's control software, leading to limited or no functionality in the systems it manages.

Check the cause
Verify that the tractor's batteries are fully charged and that the alternator is outputting the correct voltage. The system voltage must be well above 9V.
Check the cab load center and rear chassis fuse panels for blown fuses or sticking relays that supply power to the RPT module.
Inspect the rear chassis wiring harness leading to the RPT module. Look for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins at the module connectors.
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage directly at the power input pins of the RPT module connector. If the voltage is low at the connector, the issue is in the wiring or power supply. If the voltage is good at the connector but the code persists, the module itself has an internal fault.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Turn off the key switch and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Clean connections
Clean the battery terminals and ensure the main chassis ground connections are tight and free of rust/paint.
Repair wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a voltage drop in the harness, repair the damaged wire or replace the corroded connector terminal.
Replace the module
If the wiring and power supply are verified as good, the RPT module is faulty. Unbolt the Rear Chassis Control Unit, disconnect the harness, and install the new module.
Reassemble and clear codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key switch on, clear the stored fault codes via the CommandCenter display or a diagnostic tool, and cycle the key switch.
Reprogramming
Note that a new RPT module may require software flashing/calibration by a John Deere dealer to sync with the tractor's CAN bus system.
