523666.04

John Deere 523666.04 – PLC (Rear Chassis Module / Park Lock Controller): Supply Voltage (BAT) Too Low

Issue description

Triggered when the control software detects that the power supply voltage at the module's input has dropped below 9 Volts. This undervoltage condition can severely impair or completely halt the functioning of the module and its associated systems.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the tractor's batteries are fully charged and that the alternator is maintaining proper system voltage under load (well above the 9V threshold)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Rear Chassis Module (PLC) for bare wires shorting to the chassis

  3. Disconnect the PLC connectors and check for loose, pushed-back, or corroded pins

  4. Test the fuses and relays that supply unswitched and switched power to the PLC, ensuring connections at the fuse block are tight and free of corrosion

  5. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage directly at the PLC power supply pins while the circuit is loaded to confirm if the voltage drop is happening in the wiring or inside the module

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent accidental shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Module

Remove the necessary access panels/covers to reach the Rear Chassis Module (PLC) and the main power distribution fuse blocks.

  3. Repair Wiring/Terminals

If a bare wire or poor connection is found during diagnostics, repair the wire or replace the damaged electrical terminals.

  4. Clean Connections

Clean the connector pins on both the harness side and the module side with electrical contact cleaner.

  5. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect all modules and power connections. Turn the battery disconnect back on, start the tractor, and monitor the CommandCenter display.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the stored 523666.04 code. If the code returns immediately despite proper voltage at the connector, the PLC module itself has an internal fault and must be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electrical Terminal (OEM)

    57M10488

Commonly used to repair poor connections at the fuse block or module connectors causing this specific voltage drop

  • Wiring Harness (Generic)

Specific part number depends on the exact tractor chassis serial number

  • Rear Chassis Module / PLC (Generic)

Requires exact machine serial number for fitment and will require dealer software (Service ADVISOR) to program the new module to the tractor's CAN bus network
