John Deere 523695.09 – SCC / SCO / SCU: Missing SCV V External Control Message for 1 Second

CAN bus communication failure. The control module has not received the expected command data from the Selective Control Valve (SCV) #5 external control lever (or external implement connection) via the CAN bus for a duration of more than 1 second.

   Restart the tractor to see if the temporary communication glitch resets upon startup

   Check external implement connections at SCV V to ensure the harness is properly plugged in, securely seated, and free of dirt or debris

   Visually inspect the CAN bus wiring between the SCV V external control lever and the SCC/SCO module for chafing, breaks, or corrosion

   Ensure the connector pins at the SCV V lever and the SCC module are fully seated and not bent or corroded

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during inspection.

   Implement Disconnect

   Disconnect and clean any external implement connections related to SCV V. Apply dielectric grease and reconnect.

   Harness Inspection

   Locate the harness connector at the SCV V control lever and the SCC/SCO module. Disconnect both ends and inspect for moisture, pushed-out pins, or corrosion. Clean with electrical contact cleaner.

   Continuity Testing

   Using a multimeter, perform a continuity test on the CAN High and CAN Low wires between the SCV V lever and the module. Check for open circuits or shorts to ground/power. Repair or replace the harness if a fault is found.

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect all components, restore battery power, and restart the tractor. Operate the SCV V lever to see if the code returns.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring is intact and the code persists, the SCV V control lever (sensor/switch) or the SCC module itself is likely faulty. Replacement of these modules may require a John Deere dealer to perform a software calibration or GreenStar system update.
