Check the cause

  1. Cycle the Power: Place the tractor in park, shut off the engine, and restart it to reset any temporary CAN bus desynchronization.

  2. Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for loss-of-communication codes (often ending in .09) or voltage codes (like 523216.04) which indicate a broader power supply issue to the SCVs.

  3. CAN Bus Voltage & Error Rate Test: Use a diagnostic tool (like the CAN Communication Health Wizard) to monitor the CAN bus voltages. Spiking error rates usually indicate a physical wiring defect.

  4. Inspect Ground Connections: Check for a loose or broken ground wire (e.g., wire #0330A) at the battery or frame. Wiggle the battery cables and ground eyelets while the key is on; if the tractor display beeps or throws codes, you have found a bad ground.

  5. Harness Continuity Check: Check for power and ground at the SCV VI connector. If power is good, check the continuity of the CAN wires from the SCV connector to the middle connector of the Rear Chassis Controller (located under the panel behind the cab).

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Grounding Issues

    If the diagnostic wiggle-test revealed a broken ground eyelet, strip back the damaged section of the wire, crimp on a new heavy-duty eyelet terminal, apply heat shrink tubing to seal out moisture, and bolt it securely to the clean ground terminal.

  2. Repair the Chassis Harness

    If continuity testing shows an open circuit between the SCV VI and the SCC, inspect the frame connectors for corrosion. If the break is inside the harness, you must either run a new overlay wire (CAN High / CAN Low) from the controller to the SCV or replace that section of the rear chassis harness.

  3. SCV Control Board Replacement

    If the wiring and grounds are perfectly intact, the control board on the Rexroth SCV valve itself has likely failed (a known issue on CAN bus Rexroth valves). Replace the SCV VI control module.

  4. SCC Controller Replacement

    If the SCC is failing to output signals entirely and has internal faults, replace the Rear Chassis Controller.

  5. Software Configuration

    If the SCC or SCV is replaced, the new module must be calibrated. The tractor will throw a 'Found New Device' error until the SCV addresses are reconfigured (e.g., assigning the new valve as SV6 in the SCC address 010 or 023, depending on the model).
