   Based on the diagnostic checks, locate the exact point of the short to ground within the circuit.

   If the short is in the harness, repair or replace the damaged wires or connectors. Ensure all wiring is correctly insulated and routed away from pinch points or high-heat areas to prevent future shorts.

   Replace the Motor/Valve

   If the wiring is intact but Coil 2 inside the stepper motor has failed (shorted internally), replace the M08 Stepper Motor / Rear Hitch Control Valve assembly.

   Reset the Control Unit

   After addressing the short circuit and making necessary repairs, reset the BCU or HCC to clear the diagnostic trouble code and reinitialize the system settings.

   Test Hitch Operation
