Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Inspect Wiring and Connections: Carefully examine the wiring harness and connectors leading to and from the right draft pin sensor. Look for pinched wires, chafing, corrosion in the connector pins, or loose connections that could cause a severe voltage drop or open circuit.

  2. Test Sensor Output Voltage: Use a multimeter or John Deere Service ADVISOR to measure the voltage output from the right draft sensor. Confirm if the signal voltage is indeed resting below 0.25V.

  3. Check Reference Voltage and Ground: Ensure the sensor is receiving its standard 5V reference power and has a clean ground. If the 5V supply is missing, the issue is in the harness or the control module, not the sensor.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Harness

    If diagnostic checks reveal broken wires, shorts, or corroded connectors, repair or replace the affected harness sections to restore proper voltage levels.

  2. Replace the Sensor

    If the wiring, 5V reference, and ground are all intact but the signal voltage remains below 0.25V, the sensor has failed internally and must be replaced.

  3. Re-calibrate the Hitch System

    After repairing the wiring or replacing the draft pin sensor, you must perform a hitch/draft sensor calibration using the tractor's command center or a diagnostic tool. The system will not function correctly until the new sensor's baseline voltage is learned.

  4. Test Operation

    Test the 3-point hitch under normal operational conditions to ensure accurate draft readings and confirm the code does not return.
