523703.13

John Deere 523703.13 – HCC: Draft Pin Sensor Out Of Range

Issue description

The voltage signal from the rear hitch draft pin sensor is outside the normal operating parameters expected by the controller, pointing to a calibration issue, a wiring fault, or a failed sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Restart the tractor engine to verify if the active service code reappears, as this can sometimes reset communication messages.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the draft pin sensor for damaged wires, chafing, or shorts.

  3. Test the connector pins at the draft pin sensor to ensure proper power and ground (Pin A: Ground, Pin B: Signal input, Pin C: 5V reference).

Repair steps

  1. Lubrication Check

If the tractor is equipped with a lubricated rear hitch draft sensor, apply John Deere SD Polyurea grease (or equivalent) to the sensor area as specified in the operator's manual to ensure it isn't binding.

  2. Sensor Replacement

If the wiring tests good but the sensor voltage remains out of range, the draft pin sensor has failed and must be replaced. Remove the retaining hardware, disconnect the harness, and pull the old draft pin sensor out of the hitch linkage. Install the new sensor and reconnect the harness.

  3. Hitch Recalibration

After replacing the draft pin sensor, you must recalibrate the rear hitch system using the tractor's CommandCenter or diagnostic service tool to clear the calibration fault and restore normal operation.
