Issue description

The iTEC (Intelligent Total Equipment Control) system is John Deere's headland management system. This code triggers when the system detects that one of the iTEC sequence buttons on the armrest is continuously depressed, mechanically stuck, or electrically shorted, resulting in limited or disabled iTEC functionality.

Check the cause

  1. Physical Inspection: Check the iTEC sequence buttons on the CommandARM / armrest control panel for physical binding. Look for dirt, dust, or sticky residue (like spilled drinks) that might be holding the button down.

  2. System Recovery Attempt: Set switch to un-pressed position to attempt system recovery. Manually pull up or wiggle the button to ensure it returns to its neutral/un-pressed state.

  3. Power Cycle: Turn the tractor's ignition off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on to see if the AIC module clears the code.

  4. Functionality Test: If the code clears, test the iTEC sequence buttons to see if they operate normally. If the code immediately returns upon pressing the button, there is likely an internal short in the switch module.

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Switch Area

    Use compressed air and a plastic-safe electronic contact cleaner to clean around the edges of the iTEC buttons on the armrest. Work the buttons up and down to free any mechanical binding.

  2. Clear Codes

    Cycle the key and check the CommandCenter display to see if the 523745.11 code changes from Active to Stored.

  3. Access the Armrest Module

    If the switch is internally failed and will not un-stick, power down the machine and disconnect the battery. Remove the Torx screws and trim panels on the CommandARM console to access the underside of the switch modules.

  4. Replace the Switch/Control Module

    Disconnect the wiring harness to the affected iTEC switch block or the multi-function control module. Unclip the faulty switch module from the armrest bezel and install the replacement unit.

  5. Reassemble and Test

    Reconnect the harness, reinstall the armrest trim, reconnect the battery, and power on the tractor. Verify that the fault code is cleared and test the iTEC headland management sequences.
